KERN PLATFORM

Understand
your process behaviour.
We integrate instrumentation and software to record operating conditions, analyse process behaviour and follow up on improvement opportunities.
Each installation is defined together with your plant team according to the process, relevant variables and available signals.
VIDEO · KERN IoP SYSTEM
See how KERN IoP works in an injection-moulding plant
See how machine-signal acquisition, industrial sensors and monitoring systems bring together relevant production information for analysing process behaviour.
This video presents a KERN IoP application in plastics injection moulding, connecting operating data with productivity, quality and energy consumption.

HARDWARE
KERN IoP | SMARTPRO
KERN platform hardware for acquiring plant data and integrating operating records.
Instrumentation may include sensors, machine signals and operator records. Project preparation includes reviewing variables, installation conditions and the availability of each signal.
PLANT DATA ARCHITECTURE
How data are integrated in a KERN IoP installation
Sensors, machine signals, measurement and inspection instruments, operator records and cloud monitoring can be included in a single architecture. Explore the components and how they connect.
Select an image to visit the corresponding product, or open “Explore” to learn about its function. On a computer, you can also hover over links for descriptions.
01 / AUTOMATIC DATA
Sensors and machine signals
Field inputs according to the equipment and interfaces included in each installation.
Explore instrumentation
The installation can combine analogue or digital signals, meters and industrial protocols. Sensor and interface compatibility is verified before defining the scope.
02 / ACQUISITION AND CONTEXT
KERN IoP | SMARTPRO Hub
Central hub for plant-floor data.

Explore SMARTPRO Hub
The Hub collects signals from sensors, meters and controllers included in the project. It also receives records from the touchscreen interface and transmits configured information to KERN IoP | MONITOR.
↑ RECORDS RECEIVED BY THE HUB
KERN IoP | SMARTPRO
Information supplied by plant personnel.

Material · product · mould · order · cavities · downtime · quality
Explore the touchscreen interface
Forms can capture operating information that cannot be inferred from machine signals, including product references, responsible personnel, downtime reasons or quality results. Fields are defined for each installation.
03 / TRANSMISSION AND REVIEW
Cloud / KERN IoP | MONITOR
Integrated plant data is organized for review and analysis.
HUB → CLOUD → DASHBOARDS

Explore KERN IoP | MONITOR
It supports review of process variables and historical data, comparison of periods, presentation of indicators and linking of production information where those data are integrated. Views depend on the implementation.
APPLICATIONS FOR EVERY TEAM
Production · Energy · Quality · Maintenance · Engineering
Measurements and available records depend on the components, sensors, interfaces and production fields specified for each installation.
KERN IoP SYSTEMS / ACTUAL EQUIPMENT AND INTERFACES
Hardware on the plant floor. Information for the people managing the process.
Data capture begins with signals available at each installation. KERN IoP | SMARTPRO provides data-acquisition functions, while KERN IoP | MONITOR makes configured variables and histories accessible. Final integration depends on the machine, process and agreed objectives.

SOFTWARE
KERN IoP | MONITOR
Dashboards provide access to variables, historical data and indicators. Equipment grouping allows information to be examined by individual machine or project-defined groups.

Operating records
Relate data to time periods, machine states and product references, depending on available information.

Monitoring dashboards
Select variables and indicators for production, maintenance or process engineering.

Historical records
Review trends and compare periods with known operating conditions.
CONFIGURATION AND INTEGRATION
What we review before installation.
01

Variables and equipment
List of machines, auxiliaries and variables. Existing sensors, analogue or digital signals and records to be integrated.
02

Available connections
Controllers, interfaces and technical documentation. The compatibility of each connection must be confirmed for the specific machine and configuration.
03

Production information
Product references, cycles, quantities, downtime and quality results. Where required, part measurements from scales, machine vision or other instruments may also be integrated. Data relationships with manufacturing conditions are defined as part of the project.
04

Installation and use
Equipment location, power supply, network and users. Functional checks and required training are agreed.
PREPARING THE IMPLEMENTATION
Implementation requires a defined architecture and agreement on how operating data will be recorded and reviewed.
Two questions complement the KERN IoP integration diagram: how to prepare the technical scope, and how to organize data entry during operation.
01 / DEFINE
What should the quotation include?
Measurements, interfaces, infrastructure, software and acceptance criteria must be defined with the plant team.
02 / IMPLEMENT
Who records the data?
Forms and signals require shared operating rules so that production, quality and maintenance teams interpret histories consistently.
MODULAR CONFIGURATION
KERN IoP | ENERGY as a
starting application.
KERN IoP | ENERGY can be configured to measure one machine or selected auxiliary equipment. If further variables are required, suitable instrumentation and system extensions can be assessed.
Discuss your application with KERN.
Describe the machine, variables to be recorded and systems with which you need to integrate data.
