ENGINEERING TOOLS

Energy and productivity.

Downloadable spreadsheets to support a plant review. They include editable inputs, formulas and an illustrative example.

Downloadable calculators.

Energy

Estimate energy use from average power and operating time. Calculate energy per part, kilogram or cycle, and the variable electricity cost using an entered tariff.

Productivity and OEE

Calculate availability, performance and quality using times and quantities from the same period. Includes conversion for multicavity moulds.

Configure KERN IoP | ENERGY

List your equipment and electrical measurement points. Obtain preliminary guidance on Machine or Cell configurations before discussing your requirements with KERN.

Macro-free .xlsx workbook. No registration required. Example values are illustrative; replace them with data from your application.

How to interpret the results.

Estimated consumption and cost

The estimate uses average active power × time. Nameplate power should not be treated as measured operating power. The calculated cost covers only the variable component defined by the entered tariff.

Energy per unit of production

The energy measurement and its denominator must cover the same period and defined equipment. Specify whether the count refers to all parts or accepted parts, and what mass the indicator represents.

OEE

The calculation requires a valid ideal time and consistent quantities. Performance above 100% indicates that the inputs need checking; the workbook does not conceal this by artificially capping the result at 100%.
